AGENTS · DIGITAL EMPLOYEES

Specialized agents do the work.

Agents — presented to customers as Digital Employees — are the execution layer. Nexus coordinates; Agents specialize. Each is a bounded specialist that carries out authorized work within explicit limits, downstream of the intelligence layer and the human-authority boundary.

Capability: DIRECTION

An approved design direction, not a system available today. No agent can be created, published, rented, deployed, or used now; every capability below is DIRECTION.

WHAT AN AGENT IS

Execution, not intelligence.

An Agent is not a mind and not a smaller Nexus. Nexus is the intelligence that understands, reasons, and decides; an Agent is a bounded specialist that carries out one kind of authorized work. Agents hold no standing authority and no independent judgment — they receive a specific, authorized task and act only within its limits.

NEXUS INTELLIGENCE → HUMAN AUTHORITY → BOUNDED AGENT → CONNECTED SYSTEMS

BOUNDED RESPONSIBILITY

How a unit of work is admitted — and contained.

Bounded responsibility is not a slogan; it is an envelope around every task. A person's authorization opens the envelope; Governance defines its bounds; the Agent acts only inside it, and nothing beyond it.

AUTHORIZED TASK → ENVELOPE → AGENT ACTS WITHIN → NOTHING BEYOND

AUTHORIZED TASK

opened by a person's authorization (Human Authority)

opens the envelope

THE ENVELOPE

bounds defined by Governance
  • Scopethe one job this task covers
  • Toolsonly the capabilities the role requires
  • Permissionsexplicit, per-task access — never standing
  • Limitshow much, how far, how many
  • Expirythe authorization ends; it does not persist

AGENT ACTS WITHINthe specialist executes only inside the envelope

NOTHING BEYONDanything outside the envelope is refused, not attempted

Human Authority authorizes and opens the envelope. Governance defines and constrains its bounds. The Agent executes only within those bounds — Governance does not grant approval, and an Agent never authorizes itself.

Governance — how bounds and approvals are decided

WHAT AGENTS DO

The execution register.

The canonical inventory of bounded specialists, grouped by the kind of work. Each is designed to do one thing, within explicit limits. Custom agents are purpose-built for a specific operational role. This is the full register; every entry is a design direction, not a running capability.

CONNECTED SYSTEMS

Agents act through the same boundary — never around it.

Agents have no integrations of their own and hold no standing access. Authorized work reaches connected software through the same integration boundary the platform describes, under explicit, per-task permissions. A working connection is never permission to act.

Integrations — the system boundary

Bounded autonomous operation remains a Long-Term Direction (DIRECTION), not a current capability. Agents assist and prepare; people remain responsible for consequential decisions.
